burn consumed by Koros on a dodge?

This is probably not a "bug", and "working as intended", but i'm putting it in here in hopes that maybe it's not actually intended.

furnace attack lights MK on fire, Koros does single target attack on MK (who had like 1/8 health left and would have died at the beginning of the next round), fire is consumed, but MK dodges the attack, so now the fire is gone, and no damage done.

i'm sure it's another one of those order-of-operations things where the burn is consumed before the roll for dodge/hit happens. i'm just questioning the logic of it. if the target dodges the attack, shouldn't the debuff NOT be consumed?

Koros consumes buffs regardless of hitting or missing. This is indeed an odd case, but a functionally correct one.

I noticed this a while back. It touches on the mechanics Matt was talking about with Valkin freeze.

The application of buffs/debuffs is a separate action from the application of damage. This means undodgeable b/d like Icebloom's freeze and Koros's strip can still have their damage aspect dodged.
It also means that the hero can take damage and dodge some b/d. For instance, Cobressa's stoning can be dodged.

This is why Koros is ridiculous, because he can remove Invincibility, Aegis Shield, Shrouded, Evading, or Defense+ before dealing damage.

terrible mechanic. in this case, his passive actually benefits the other team.

it removed the burn that would have killed the opponent.

We have had this discussion before. The action is consistent with his ability to purge buffs via purging pyre whether or not they dodge.

And eating the fire debuff does heal your Koros slightly. (2% more, now that everyone has changed him to an all Skill build! ;) ) Also gives you a 3.4x multiplier if you do connect with the intended target, so not all benefits are for the attacked.
