Future Guild Game suggestion!

About the idea of a Guild Game with finite grinding but still limiting the top spots!

As I see it we need a GG structure that works like an increasingly more difficult tower or dungeon, with different required heroes (starting off with those more commonly achieved) and alternating up to hard hero combinations to beat, with increasingly harder to get heroes in order to beat the levels. Like an advanced Donkey Kong!

This will make the GG finite, but without resulting in a tie for 20 guilds..
Maybe we should see like 500 floors/dungeons and the top 50 being the ones separating the top players and therefor also the guilds!

This could be named 'Babels tower" as the infamous tower was not completed due to bad communication. So the guilds managing to play as high as possible figuring out the way to beat each floor and bringing along the most players will win.

This would be seriously entertaining in my book!

It would be something truly spectacular, and skill based!

Any thoughts?

  • I like the idea. Make GG less of a boring grind. No need for it to involve running the same dungeon hundreds of times.

  • Exactly my thought Nomadz! The grinding of the same event dungeon is just to painful - It's like who can press the button for how many times to win!

Ever-increasing difficulty is a great idea! Achievement-based without an endless grind. I would like to give it a try
  • I'd try it for sure.

  • @Stapedius great idea. Perhaps an identical tower for each guild and the entire guilds roster is linked to this "babels tower" with each member able to challenge each floor. Also with communication, there can be strategy on which member can take each floor taking turns in order to combat each floor based on who's heros are most capable and trying to maintain the guilds roster. Put some mini bosses etc. I feel like we should definitely elaborate on this idea!

I generally like the idea of it, but it puts a strong bias towards "end game" players vs those still building their rosters and runing them up. This would also put a strong negative incentive towards top guilds admitting anything other than end game players.
  • I like your idea a lot.
  • I would like this to be as simple as possible, with the lowest 80% of the floors (or around it) being possible for most players of a certain roster. This way most players can do a lot, but not be able to reach the top. Even the highest ranked players should find the top 10 floors, or so, very difficult without reruning/getting help from the guild. That way a lot of guilds can do well if they put in the time needed, but only the top guilds can conquer the "Babel Tower" with some of their members
  • I am not saying this is a terrible idea...but how many times are we going to ask them to completely revamp and restructure everything? They finaly present us with a structure that seemed to make many people happy and now we want them to completely change it again? Also i have to echo mongo on this one. This idea would have great impact on any guild that isnt already in the top...they cater so much to the end game players as it is. The way games are structured now anyone can be competitive as i feel like it should be. Why introduce a title like mvp where people have something to shoot for and then make it impossible for most players to obtain. this last games really brought our guild together, and from what i've heard echoed across most of the LINE chat rooms that was the same for a lot of guilds. I dont support a total revamp again
  • I am in LC as of now, and I am certainly not working against them or any other guild for that matter. But endless grinding to win? I have done it with my 2 accounts for Legendary Conqueror, and MVP for SunBorn. It is not fun to sit 24/7 pressing a button, and loads of lower guilds simply cant do it auto.

To get a system with very slowly increasing difficulty would be awesome for every guild in my eyes, so everyone can achieve something, and top players can be rewarded for their roster and the guilds knowledge/support.

If, as an example, we get a 500 lvl "Babel Tower" the lowest 400 should be possible for most players like 50+ lvl (but of course this has to be tweaked) - So it would still be effort based. But the top 20 levels of the tower should be reserved for a win only by the best players and the best rune/hero combo.

This way any guild can compete by effort, but only top players can contribute to the very high end of the tower. It will therefor not be a grind-fest like today.

Skill & effort is the best combo!
  • I'm not saying i dont want variety stapedius...no one wants to run the same dungeon 2000 times. i think there needs to be more than one repeatable to choose from. But i think the current system just needs minor tweeks not a toral rework again.

I like this idea too. At the very least something needs to be done to change the gg from just being a mindless grindfest with lackluster rewards.

  • I hear ya jim, but I think this would simplify everything, not requiering a total change. Just make guild games something like the campaign, but focus strongly on the level of difficulty being slightly harder each floor (unlike campaign it should maybe be a tower like structure I think - 4 defending PVE heroes)
Graphic-wise you should see your progressive achievement by climbing the Babel Tower step by step. I would just love this tbh!

Rogar should ofc be the only necessity for first floor. Then each floor should demand heroes harder to get/level/develop after some time in the climbing process
  • I am in love with this idea, and it seems doable without a complete revamp, because the current tower exists. I do think the devs addressed a lot of the previous issues with GG... But I can't say I've met any player "happy" with the current systems amount of grinding.

so you are saying do away with scavenger hunts then? I think that has always been everyones favorite part of guild games. And if they dont do away with scavenger hunts, which are currently the majority of guild point counts. Are you suggesting they do scavenger hunts and then this large tower structure? I just fear that makes the grind even longer for some people. I understand it doesnt for you because you are in a guild that is used to grinding for 72 hours straight. But i'm trying to think about the other guilds. However, without actually seeing it in action I'm on the fence. I'm just speaking for our guild when i say they were very satisfied with the last guild games.

Similar to things brought up in other thread:
    http://forum.dungeonboss.com/discussion/56004/did-someone-tell-big-fish-that-previous-event-dungeons-were-easy#latest

    All good ideas.
Might be very hard to execute.

I think its a great idea. Make it happen devs.
  • I like this idea. The grinding of the last gg for me was a complete time suck... I can't say I enjoyed guild games. Sure the result was fun and the competition and the communication between the guild was awesome, but other than doing the scavenger portion it was just a lot of painful grinding. This is coming from a casual player who hit minimum within my guild... I can't even imagine the senseless grinding that happened in the top 10 guilds. I like the idea of a dungeon where the further you progress in the dungeon, the harder it gets. I haven't kept up with what happened in the summits, but in other games I've played that have a guild game component (or something like it) there typically is a boss that is taken down. My thoughts are dipping into a little bit of games, but what I'm picturing is there being 5 mini bosses that would be defeated, and then once you take those down it leads way to the final boss. Keeping it with your finite repeating, you could only have attack the boss 3 times. This gives the higher guilds a way to prove their worth, so to speak. Not where whoever has the most time on their hands and the most resources takes home the highest amount of points. The points would be given out on different factors, ranging between damage done, completion speed, and something else that's creative that I can't think of right now. This could be a way of not have the 20 guild tie for first. The only problem I have with your idea is the difficulty F2P would have to rank high on the leaderboards. Great post.

Everything can always get better, but this week's sure was a blast. Let's continue to move in this really awesome direction. Really loving Dungeon Boss more than ever. And it's almost been two years for me.

  • I like it, and with GG every month there will be plenty of opportunities to change up the tasks. Not like you can't do babel on month and scavenger hunts the next.
  • No one wants guild games every month....i'm still praying that doesnt actually happen
  • so you are saying do away with scavenger hunts then? I think that has always been everyones favorite part of guild games. And if they dont do away with scavenger hunts, which are currently the majority of guild point counts. Are you suggesting they do scavenger hunts and then this large tower structure? The scavenger hunt can surely be a part of the game - I think we all loved it, and THX to the devs for it!

But let the grinding change from a mindless "press a button" to a very cool and easy to make progressive "Babel Tower"

  • Guild Games every month would drive most end-gamers out of the game, I think. And boring grinds running the same dungeon hundreds of times will drive anybody out of the game eventually, even if accompanied by some good content. Implement Stapedius's idea or something like it, and everyone will be better off. @Joel
    l4Ho0K1RYjomMxwbu.gif

  • I wouldn't mind them every month if they are toned down. More like glorified crown wars, a finite amount of points with multiple guilds taking the same place. It would still be easy to make it extremely challenging as you can make dungeons that only can be tried once with no friends and other such things.
  • I grinded my **** off with both my main Stapedius & my alt SunBorn. First time I did it in GGs. But it seems so pointless just clicking a button the whole night.
The idea here is to get an increasing challenge. Not escorting Jerry or press the button x 1000 to win
  • A progressive Guild Game event would be so awesome, with every player feeling like they can do something. And only top players actually reaching near top. The grind should then be limited, as the "Babel Tower" will offer a way for everyone to win the first floors, then how far you reach will be up to every player/guild to figure out, but only very hard for top players.
@Joel Please have a look at this.
  • Priority 1: Remove unlimited repeatable quests.

LC averaged more than 100k points per player. Let's say 40k were available through quests then 60k were from repeatable dungeons. So the average player ran dungeons 1,000 times, let's say 3 mins a dungeon that's 50 F***ING hours!!

This is not a criticism of LC but of the guild games environment. @Stapedius has a great merit-based idea. It might be beyond the programming ken of DB, unfortunately.

ANY solution that removes infinite repeatables would be a success.

What about a capped point GG, and to separate guilds on equal points, whichever gets there first get ranked first, etc. So like a sprint rather than marathon grind fest.
  • How about a reward rune (or runes) that is not worse than one you can craft yourself? I do believe this was mentioned in the last GG too..
